All Five of Miami Conservancy District Dams Store Water during April High Water

As of April 4, the pool stage has now crested behind all the Miami Conservancy District flood protection dams.

The Englewood Dam pool was the last to crest, and it crested at 8am this morning (that means the amount of stored water behind the dams is starting to lower). As of 10:45am this morning only three of the dams remain in storage (Englewood, Lockington, and Taylorsville).

River levels remain above action stage at Piqua, Troy, Dayton, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Franklin, Middletown, and Hamilton (that means we are keeping floodgates closed).

Peak storage by the five flood protection dams was 28,040 acre-feet or about 9.1 billion gallons of water. This high water event ranks 74th largest storage event during the 111-year history of the Miami Conservancy District protecting riverfront communities from high water.

Some notable crest stages: Lockington Dam crested at 26.7 feet which ranks 24th out of the 433 storage events at that dam. Taylorsville Dam crested at 23.1 feet which ranks 24th out of the 207 storage events at that dam. Here are a few scenes from this event.
